House Speaker: Nancy Pelosi Looking in the Mirror of Reality

By Carrie K. Hutchens

I saw a brief clip of Pelosi saying she believed there could be a compromise over the proposed bill to fund the military. Then the next thing I see is a comment where she says that President Bush has a tin ear when it comes to Iraq. So, I can only conclude that she believes there can be compromise if she gets her way and things are done as she wants. That is the way she has come across to me since she became the Speaker of the House -- like a spoiled brat and school yard bully. "I will tell you how it is and that is how it will be!" is the attitude the pours from her, in my opinion.

Pelosi keeps bringing up "accountability". What about her "accountability"? Who was she to go to Syria and act as though she was our other president? And, according to FoxNews.com article, "Nancy Pelosi's Syria Visit Sparks Criticism For Bungled Shuttle Diplomacy" (April 5, 2007), "Shocking officials in Jerusalem, where she had visited two days earlier, Pelosi said she also told Assad that Olmert had wanted to relay the message that Israel is ready for peace talks with Syria.

That came as a surprise to the prime minister, whose office on Wednesday denied any such conversation and said that "what was discussed with the House speaker did not include any change in Israel's policy, as it has been presented to international parties involved in the matter."

Olmert's office also issued a statement saying it had specified to Pelosi that Israel considers Syria "part of the axis of evil and a party encouraging terrorism in the entire Middle East."

Pelosi's office on Thursday issued a statement saying that she "accurately relayed" the message from Olmert to Assad, which was that Syria must cease its ties with Hamas and Hezbollah, among other things that the Bush administration also is calling for."

Oh, of course, Nancy Pelosi couldn't have made a mistake. It was everyone else. But even better, the article continues...

The statement also downplayed the reaction by Israeli officials, which Pelosi's office said "sought merely to express that the message given to Speaker Pelosi did not indicate a change in Israel's position toward Syria. The speaker neither said nor implied that this message was a change in Israel's position."

Nancy Pelosi can read minds and knows better than the person having the reaction just what they sought to express? I'm so impressed -- NOT!

Just who is she to think if she says it, then it somehow becomes reality, even if it isn't?

Pelosi put the American people in danger by her little trip, but she hasn't stopped there. She doesn't seem to have a grasp on the reality that while it is okay to disagree on the war, you don't help the enemy directly and you don't give them the information they need to win it. What part of that doesn't she comprehend?

I will say this slowly and hope that it registers...

When Pelosi & Company wish to have a deadline, such as has been presented for pulling out our troops in Iraq, it is like saying publicly that police officers will only be on duty from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. (six hours of absolutely no patrol -- count on it), and/or that a problem area will only be patrolled continuously until such and such a date. Does Pelosi & Company think criminals are ignorant folk that don't read/listen to the news or to those who are discussing it? Does she suppose only the criminals will be left in the dark? They are the only ones who won't know what is up and when it is time to take over the territory? That is certainly how she and her pals are coming across, not just to many of us here in the USA, but also, I'm sure, to many who wish to see this country destroyed. So who is actually the uninformed and ignorant of how things work?

I'm so sick of watching what looks like Pelosi trying to merely manipulate people and situations to get her way, and what seems to be her inability to comprehend the danger she is putting the American people and our military in. Inability to comprehend or her lack of concern -- either way -- she is NOT "the other president" and she cannot speak for our country as though she is. She is merely the Speaker of the House, not the speaker in behalf our country. Someone better sit her down and explain the difference ever so s-l-o-w-l-y, before we are left paying a price we can't afford to pay.

If Pelosi is so into accountability, maybe she should look into the mirror once in awhile and decide that person needs to be held accountable, too!

Speaking of impeachment...
