HOUSTON, July
9 /Christian Newswire/ --
ChristiaNet.com, the world's largest Christian portal with
twelve million monthly page loads, recently asked the question, "If
the 2008 Presidential Election was held today, who would you vote
for?" In the closed poll of 340 registered Christian voters,
ChristiaNet allowed voters to choose between Hillary Clinton and
Rudolph Giuliani.
The majority
polled voted in favor of Rudolph Giuliani with a 69% approval. In a
past closed 2008 Presidential Poll, Giuliani was considered a
possible contender because he received the least amount of
unfavorable votes. However, ChristiaNet's recent poll reveals that
only one of the top three reasons why people would vote for Giuliani
could be considered a vote of confidence. Giuliani impressed many
people with how he handled the 9/11 tragedy. However, the other top
reasons have nothing to do with Giuliani's political background.
Many consider him the lesser of two evils and some just would not
vote for Clinton. As one concerned voter states, "I just wouldn't
vote for Hillary Clinton. One Clinton in the White House was
enough!"
With
thirty-one percent of the vote, Hillary Clinton seems to have a
dedicated following. All three of the top reasons Christians would
vote for Clinton are to her credit. The top reasons include she is
more experienced in politics, smarter than Giuliani and has the
experience of her husband, former President Bill Clinton, to rely
upon. An excited poller expressed, "Two Clintons are greater than
one Giuliani." Lastly, many think Hillary Clinton is a woman of
action and it's time for a change.
In reviewing
the negative reasons for not being considered for President, one
interesting fact emerged from Clinton's negative responses. Just as
she has a dedicated following of supporters, Clinton also has a
vocal group of non-supporters. As the top reasons are to her credit,
so are the negative reasons such as "I just don't like her!" and
"she is too liberal and not trustworthy."
Topping the
list of Giuliani's negative responses, the majority of the voters
felt the Republican party has failed the American people and are
destroying the country. While others say even though Giuliani
handled the 9/11 situation well, he was a poor Mayor. Many pollers
did not know much about Giuliani or what he stands for. It will be
interesting to see if a relatively unknown candidate can win over a
highly polarized and controversial one.
