Canton, SD - United States Senate Candidate Joel Dykstra reached another milestone in his campaign this week, when the South Dakota Secretary of State certified petitions signatures exceeding the number needed to put his name on the ballot for the June 3rd Primary.
Dykstra said he is pleased with the broad base of support demonstrated by the statewide grassroots effort of his many supporters. "Our goal when we started the petition process was to collect signatures statewide. This week's results exceeded our goal and illustrate that hard work and devoted volunteers can make a real difference in a campaign," he said.
Field Director Josh Haeder said the petitions were verified by the Secretary of State's Office in Pierre on March 18 and Dykstra was notified today that he had enough signatures to put his name on the ballot as a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate.
This has been a huge week and a half for Dykstra's campaign with the completion of the petition drive, as well as the confirmation that South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds and Sioux Falls businessman Steve Kirby were not going to enter the race. These recent developments clearly make Dykstra the front runner among the Republicans in the race for the party's nomination.
Dykstra said, "The campaign's momentum continues to build and we are planning more exciting announcements before the end of the month."
