By now its, uh, well known that, um, Barack Obama does much better when, uh, he speaks using a teleprompter. Without one, he, um, uh, tends to, uh, falter a bit.
So now CNS News reports Obama will be taking his teleprompter with him on the campaign trail.
Perhaps this is the political equivalent of a security blanket.
I wonder if he'll have it close by as he presses the flesh in the adoring crowds, eager to be touched by The One.
"What's that, sir? Hold on while I grab my teleprompter and I'll answer your question."
Meanwhile, it has been reported that when Sarah Palin's teleprompter glitched at the Republican convention, she just pressed on with a great speech. That's easier to do when it's coming from the heart, and not just calculated for maximum political impact.
P.S. Is it just me, or do you ever get the feeling that Barack Obama is running against the Republican vice presidential candidate, instead of the Republican presidential candidate?

A Man and His Teleprompter

From what I understand, it's an outright lie that Palin's teleprompter glitched. Several reporters were standing at the sidelines during her speech and following it with her teleprompter and reported no glitches. This is an outright lie. It it is abhorrent that the news media and the public don't bat an eyelash as Palin repeats the lie over and over.
There is actually some debate and uncertainty as to the extent of how much and how long it failed, not to the failure itself. Either way, if the teleprompter loses it's smooth flow, that is going to present a challenge to someone who isn't ready to articulate themselves extemporaneously.
