Palin Speech Hailed Internationally as ‘Speech of the 21st Century’

British pro-lifers have recognized the powerful speech Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin gave Saturday on the value of human life as one of historic significance.

Among the important things she said:

It’s hard to think of many issues that could possibly be more important than who is protected in law and who isn’t – who is granted life and who is denied it. So when our opponent, Senator Obama, speaks about questions of life, I listen very carefully.

According to CNS News, John Smeaton, director of Society for the Protection of Unborn Children said
“Given that the most fundamental responsibility of political leaders is to protect the lives of citizens, Sarah Palin’s speech is the most significant speech of the 21st century,” Smeaton wrote.

Well said! Thomas Jefferson also recognized this first essential purpose and duty of government:
"The care of human life and happiness and not their destruction is the first and only legitimate object of good government."

Conservatives believe there is a limited role for government; in fact, our Constitution mandates limited government (though the Constitution is largely ignored today).

But while the legitimate role of government is limited, it does have a role. As Jefferson stated, that first and foremost role is to protect human life.

If innocent human life is not protected, then no other rights we might have can be relied on.

How wonderful that our friends overseas understand this...and how sad that some in our own country fail to respect this.
