Newsbusters has a thorough analysis of the hit-tactics of the "mainstream" media toward conservatives and the friendly softballs thrown underhanded to liberals.
While Sarah Palin got the third degree from Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric, it was cookies and ice cream with Joe Biden.
Couric also took a pass on Biden's myriad gaffes, while searching for the slightest chink in Palin's armor of knowledge.
When conservatives are under the media bright light, they must know everything and sound like it; mere leadership ability and working understanding is not enough.
But for liberals...well...oh, it's really about how the feel, isn't it? Do they care? And since they're liberals, we know that they do, so what's the point of asking any tough questions?
Of course, we understand, too, that while conservative ideas and positions must always be meticulously analyzed and revealed for the diabolical and hate-filled mean-spirited hurt-wagons we know they are. Meanwhile, the liberal mindset is accepted as "just the way things really are."
Conservatives are expected to renounce their medieval, hateful ways and make some apologies for trying to oppress honest, hard-working, sexually free Americans.
Read the whole Newsbusters piece for an education--or re-education.
Did we really expect any different from the "mainstream" media? Of course not.
But it'd be nice if the media would surprise us every now and then with some balanced and objective reporting. It'd keep things interesting.

The MSM is doing exactly as we might have predicted. It's not fair, but it's life in American politics. Gov. Palin can handle it; that is, if she is unrestrained by the campaign experts. Any weak performance with Couric, and especially with Gibson, can be attributed to attempts to come across as nice and friendly with the media. To the Left nice equals weakness and is a signal to attack.
I hope that tomorrow evening Sarah Palin speaks for herself and not for Sen. McCain. Let Sarah be Sarah. It's a sure win for conservatives. As Mitt Romney has said, “I think they'd be a lot wiser to let Sarah Palin be Sarah Palin. Let her talk to the media, let her talk to people ... Look, she wasn't selected by John McCain because she's an expert in foreign policy...John McCain's the expert in foreign policy...She's a person who identifies with people with homes across America.” Let's hope and pray Mrs. Palin makes that connection in Thursday's debate. The contrast with Joe "Gaffe Machine" Biden would be striking and instructive for Americans.
