11/09/2005 Ten Commandments Georgia Pays Off Lawsuit Debt HARTWELL, Georgia, Nov. 8 /Christian Wire Service/ -- On Tuesday, November 8 at 6:30 p.m., Ten Commandments Georgia, Inc.'s President, Dr. Jody Hice, and the Executive Director, Rev. Mike Griffin, will appear before the Barrow County Commissioners to pay the remaining debt owed on the lawsuit to defend the public display of the Ten Commandments. Over 2 years ago Ten Commandments Georgia pledged support in raising funds in defense of the public display of the Ten Commandments in the Barrow County courthouse. An anonymous plaintiff and the ACLU began an expensive lawsuit that has cost the citizens of Barrow County and our state a lot of time and effort. Erroneous Supreme Court decisions and activist judges have all but made it impossible to win a case related to a private citizen's free exercise of religion and the government's constitutional right to acknowledge the same God that the founders of this great country once did. In order to defend the right of the public acknowledgement of God, Ten Commandments Georgia is grateful for the opportunity to have led the cause in raising over $273,000.00 for the legal defense of the public display of the Ten Commandments. Their check for $52,681.59 completes their commitment to the Board of Commissioners and the citizens of Barrow County. In closing, Ten Commandments Georgia thanks all of the citizens of Barrow County and the state of Georgia for their sacrificial giving to stand for what is right, just and needed.
