Pastors and Dignitaries Pump $10,000 in Free Gas as a Christmas Gift of Grace for Single Parents

BOISE, Idaho, Dec. 16 /Christian Wire Service/ -- On Saturday, December 17th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM (MST), single parents from throughout the Boise, Idaho, area will be able to have their gas tanks filled, free of charge. A cross denominational group of local pastors and dignitaries will be at Jackson's Chevron, in Meridian (Idaho), pumping $10,000 worth of free gas as part of a "Grace Gift Parable II."

The Christian Churches of the Treasure Valley, an association of approximately 80 churches from various denominations, will sponsor the parable for the second year in a row.

"There are few cultural examples of what grace really means," said Mission Media Executive Director Michael Boerner. "The greatest message of Christianity is the message of grace. We receive God's forgiveness without having to earn it."

In last year's original "Grace Gift Parable," anyone with unpaid parking tickets was given the opportunity to present them to an area pastor and have their parking fines paid in full – just by asking. The event was held at City Hall in Boise. The local event soon mushroomed into a national and international story for television, radio and print media. (Parkingticketgrace.com)

"The impact this has on some people is astounding," said of Boise Valley Christian Communion, part of both Grace Gift Parables. "Last year, some people couldn't get over the fact that something could be forgiven just by asking."

Money to pay for the fuel was donated by local businesses and churches, and was raised specifically for this event.
