NBC Must Drop 'The Book of Daniel'
WASHINGTON, Jan. 9 /Christian Newswire/ -- NBC aired a program called The Book of Daniel last Friday evening and they have laid an egg. The show was hyped as a serious drama about an Episcopal Priest named Daniel Webster. So far, so good. However, Daniel is a pill-popping Priest who lives with a variety of daily problems. His wife is an alcoholic, his son is a homosexual and his adopted son is having sex with a young girl. If you think this is bad, you ain't heard nothing yet. Daniels brother-in-law has stolen 3 Million Dollars of the churches money and has left town. The money was to be used for building a school. The brother-in- law, who was hired by Daniel, is found dead in a motel room. The brother-in-law was having an affair with his secretary and she is suspected in his death. It turns out that the secretary is having a lesbian affair with the brother-in-laws wife. Jesus is also a central figure who rides in the car with Daniel and gives very soft advice about his pill- popping and other daily problems. Daniel preaches a message about sin wherein he says that all of us are just human beings who are all going to be unable to control ourselves and that all human beings sin. A woman who is a church leader tries to chastise him for the sermon, but then this same church leader sleeps with another church leader. Well, I guess that gives you some of the low down. The show is written by a practicing homosexual, Jack Kenny. Jack Kenny said, "I don't necessarily know that all the MYTH surrounding him (Jesus) is true." Kenny also is interested in Buddhist teachings about reincarnation. "This show is the most thinly veiled attack upon Christianity and all people of faith that has ever been put on a major network" said, Don Swarthout, President of Christians Reviving America's Values aka CRAVE. "We cannot allow NBC to continue to air this program. This entire program is a disgrace to all of the decent people in America. It must be taken off of the air before it goes any further with its attack upon Christianity, People of Faith and all decent people in America," Swarthout said. "How can anyone expect decent people to enjoy this so called serious drama about a man who is the Pastor of a church who lives his life with so much daily junk in his life? How can anyone expect a program written by a practicing homosexual, who does not even believe in the principles of Christianity to be fair toward people of faith? Swarthout asked. "Every decent person in America needs to contact all of the NBC affiliates in their state and demand that this program be taken off of the air," Swarthout concluded
