01/19/2006 CORRECTION--NPLAC: New Hampshire Decision Affirms
Parental Rights WASHINGTON, Jan. 18 /Christian Wire Service/ -- The National Pro-Life Action Center (NPLAC)—the uncompromising voice of pro-life America on Capitol Hill—is pleased with the Supreme Court’s decision to remand New Hampshire’s parental notification law to the lower court, yet questions the Court’s unwillingness to affirm every person’s inalienable right to life. “While it is commendable that the Supreme Court has recognized that the state of New Hampshire was within its rights to create a law that sought to restore parental rights, the High Court continues to demonstrate a lack of consistency in its understanding that all human life should be protected,” said Stephen G. Peroutka, Esq., NPLAC chairman and a Maryland attorney. “While we support parental authority, we do not support abortion. The bottom line is, abortion is always wrong and never medically necessary.” “No one—neither the parents of a pregnant minor, nor the mother or father of the little unborn child— can ever say that it is acceptable to take that child’s life,” stated Paul Schenck, director of NPLAC. “It is confounding that in our modern age a minor cannot receive an aspirin from the school nurse without the written consent of a guardian, but the abortion lobby will argue that the same child should be allowed to undergo an invasive, dangerous medical procedure or have equally hazardous drugs administered to them in utter secrecy. This is preposterously illogical, and puts our children in harm’s way.” NPLAC urges all parents to become well-informed about the abortion laws in their particular state so that they are aware of what can happen to their children without their knowledge or approval. “The abortion lobby is a fierce group that will stop at nothing to ensure the ‘right’ to take innocent life under the mantra of ‘choice,’” continued Peroutka. “In light of what happened to Holly Patterson—the beautiful 18-year-old who died in 2003 as a result of a lethal dose of RU-486 administered by a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in California—we must redouble our efforts to protect our children from these predators.” “Our Constitution states that we established this union to, ‘secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity,’” observed Schenck. “These children are the very posterity to which this document speaks, and they will never truly know liberty, if we do not first ensure and protect their inalienable right to life.”
