Women Observe 33 Years of Legal Choice; Breaking Their Silence About Consequences of Abortion
Including: Jennifer O'Neill, SNM Spokesperson/Actor/Model and Dr. Alveda King, Niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

WASHINGTON, Jan. 20 /Christian Newswire/ -- As our country acknowledges 33 years of legalized abortion this weekend, women from across America will gather in front of the Supreme Court Building on Monday, January 23, at 4 pm, to share their personal experience with abortion as part of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign.

More than 50 women will each briefly share how their abortion affected their lives and hold signs that say, "I Regret My Abortion." This event is one of 21 happening in January as part of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, which is co-sponsored by NOEL and Priests for Life.

Actor, model, and author, Jennifer O'Neill is the celebrity spokesperson for the Silent No More Awareness Campaign. She joined the Campaign because she was forced to have an abortion and understands the pain it brings. Ms. O'Neill will speak at the Supreme Court along with Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who also regrets her abortion.

"We know from personal experience that abortion created more problems for us than it solved and we're not going to standby and watch more of our sisters be hurt, we are silent no more!" says Georgette Forney, President of NOEL and Co-Founder of the Campaign, who had an abortion at age 16.

"Hearing these woman speak about the damage abortion did to their lives will make you realize that abortion is a life altering decision not just a 'simple choice' or 'right,'" says Janet Morana, Associate Director of Priests for Life and Co-Founder of the Campaign.

Silent No More Awareness Campaign aims to increase public awareness of the devastating effects of abortion in an effort to convince society that women deserve better than abortion and to let women who are suffering the ill effects know they are not alone and help and healing is available. Since officially launching the Campaign in January 2003, more than 1650 people have shared testimony at 110 Gatherings that have occurred in 44 states and 4 countries.
