St. Onge Livestock Co. Hosts Huge Fund-Raiser
more than $10,000 raised during its first R-CALF USA fund-raiser for this year

(St. Onge, S.D.) – St. Onge Livestock Co. raised more than $10,000 during its first R-CALF USA fund-raiser for this year. Bob Redland, Redland Angus and Red Bank Cattle Co., donated the calf for the rollover auction. Pete’s Clothing, located in Belle Fourche, donated a 20X Serratelli hat, and A&J Supply, located in Whitewood, donated a gift certificate for the fund-raiser.

“We are in the livestock marketing business and we feel R-CALF is the only organization helping the cow/calf and yearling operators in our area,” said St. Onge Livestock Co. Manager Curt Olson. “The reason we support R-CALF is because R-CALF supports our producers. We need cattle to stay in business, and R-CALF helps to keep producers in business.”

“We have been R-CALF people for a long time,” said Redland. “R-CALF is the only national cattle organization that is completely funded by voluntary contributions.

“I want to thank R-CALF and St. Onge for having the sale,” continued Redland. “I appreciate everything R-CALF has done.”

“R-CALF is making me money, so we donate about $13 per calf we sell to R-CALF,” said Jim Dacar, of Belle Fourche. “R-CALF has put 15 to 20 cents per pound on this market. All producers are reaping the benefits of the market and should be donating to R-CALF.”

“It is the people that sell the calves that R-CALF supports,” said David Winkler, of Newell. “COOL is important for American producers and the trade agreements with other countries. R-CALF is in Washington, D.C., speaking for us so that producers are not taken advantage of.”

“I really appreciate St. Onge Livestock for hosting the sale, and the Redland family for donating the calf,” said Tom Connelley, of Belle Fourche. “A huge thanks goes out to all the donors at the sale for their support of the U.S. cattle industry.”
