CWA Urges Bush to Continue Fighting for Persecuted Christian

WASHINGTON, March 23 -- Concerned Women for America (CWA) sent a letter today to President Bush thanking him for his continued efforts to save the life of Abdul Rahman, a man currently on trial in Afghanistan for converting to the Christian faith.

CWA’s President Wendy Wright thanked the President saying, “On behalf of Concerned Women for America’s 500,000 members, I would like to thank you for your concern for Abdul Rahman, a Christian in Afghanistan who faces execution for converting from Islam. We have asked CWA members to contact Afghan officials and were encouraged to know that you, like we, are deeply troubled by Mr. Rahman’s case. We share your expectation that Afghanistan will ‘honor the universal principle of freedom.’”

The letter emphasizes America’s commitment and responsibility to fight for religious freedom in Afghanistan. CWA strongly supports the God-given rights of every individual to worship without fear of persecution. We stand behind Mr. Rahman as he endures this difficult time, and our prayers are with the President as he continues to intervene on Mr. Rahman’s behalf.
