Set Up Memorial at the Supreme Court to Honor Terri Schaivo DUBLIN, Ireland, March 25 -- The Christian Defense Coalition, the National Clergy Council, Stand True Ministries, and the National Pro-life Action Center to lay hundreds of roses in front of the court to honor the legacy of Terri and work to ensure the rights of the severely disabled are protected. Organization also to hold a news conference on Friday, March 31st, at 10:00 am in front of the Supreme Court to discuss the Schiavo case and the future of the disabled and addressing end of life issues. The Christian Defense Coalition will also re-release a nationwide Zogby poll taken just at the time of Terri’s death which clearly showed the majority of Americans supported leaving Terri’s feeding tube in place. Rev Patrick J Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, comments, “We are setting up this memorial to honor the beautiful life of Terri Schaivo and to challenge America to build a society where the severely disabled are treated with dignity, justice and respect. On the first anniversary of her death it must be stressed that Terri did not die with dignity or grace. Rather, she died an excruciating and brutal death of dehydration and starvation--a death, that if she had been an animal would have been illegal. Our message to our elected officials and courts is that we must do better regarding protecting the most needy and weak of society. Our hope and prayer is that Terri’s passing was not in vain and that no person will have to experience the pain and suffering she experienced last year.” Rev. Mahoney was one of the principal organizers of rallies, vigils and demonstrations in Florida during the fight to save Terri’s life.
