A Call for Today's Men to Sacrifice for Women and Children as Past Generations Did
DC Press Conference: Remembering Titanic and WWII Heroes

WASHINGTON, April 14 -- Doug Phillips, President of The Christian Boys' and Men's Titanic Society, is holding a press conference at 5pm today to call men to remember the legacy of the men on board the R.M.S. Titanic who gave their lives ninety- four years ago to save women and children. The press conference will be held in the La Salle Salon at the L’enfant Plaza Hotel in Washington, D.C.

“On April 14, 1912, as the great ship Titanic plunged into the icy waters of the North Atlantic, men sacrificed their lives so that women and children might live,” remarked Phillips. “Men gave up their spot on lifeboats to save those weaker than themselves. This legacy of heroism is one that men today should pause and consider on this anniversary of the Titanic’s sinking.”

“Men must be willing to rise above selfishness and lead,” continued Phillips. “Rather than exploiting women and children, they should seek to protect and defend them. Sadly, the principle of ‘women and children first,’ which was a hallmark of Old Christendom and the pre-Modern world, has been exchanged in our day with the humanistic philosophy of the ‘survival of the fittest’ -- the strong live and the weak die.

“ At the Christian Boys' and Men's Titanic Society, we oppose this aberrant historical shift and charge men in our time to lead sacrificially.”

Also sharing remarks at the 5pm press conference will be Scott Brown, son of WWII flyboy Bill Brown. The elder Brown was shot down over Tokyo Bay during the closing months of the Second World War before being rescued. Scott will discuss how his father’s manly sacrifice made him the man he is today. The Brown Family’s story is featured in the newly- released documentary, The League of Grateful Sons.

“During WWII, men -- not women -- fought and died on foreign battlefields,” explained Phillips, who also served as Executive Producer of The League of Grateful Sons. “The soldiers of the Second World War embodied the same principle that the men on board Titanic did -- they died for their children and their sweethearts. They gave their lives to protect a way of life that we have all but lost site of in the twenty-first century as we have capitulated to feministic and egalitarian ideals.”

Bill Brown, along with Phillips, will be addressing the Christian Boys’ and Men’s Titanic Society Tenth Annual Dinner gathering at 6:30pm tonight at Phillips Flagship Restaurant in D.C. Phillips keynote message is entitled, “Manliness: What the Titanic Generation Had That We Must Reclaim.”

Several dinner seats are open for D.C. Press. To attend tonight’s dinner, to schedule an interview, or to obtain more information about today’s 5pm press conference, contact Wesley Strackbein at 210.381.6091.
