Will California Democrats Create Transsexual-Bisexual-Homosexual Schools Indoctrinating Children?
Thomasson: "This is about teaching girls that they can get sex-change operations"

SACRAMENTO, April 20 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Democrat-controlled California State Senate is scheduled to vote Monday on a highly-controversial bill that will teach children in grades as young as kindergarten to embrace transsexuality, cross-dressing, bisexuality, and homosexuality. SB 1437, which so far has only the support of Democrat state senators, will likely be debated and voted upon the afternoon of April 24.

"This isn't about safety or discrimination, it's about teaching boys they can wear girls' clothes, girls that they can get sex-change operations to have their breasts removed, and teaching every child that marriage is no longer between a man and a woman," said Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families (CCF), a leading pro-family organization based in California that is strongly opposing SB 1437 and two similar bills, AB 606 and AB 1056.

SB 1437 expressly prohibits textbooks, instructional materials, and school-sponsored activities from "reflecting adversely" on transsexuality, bisexuality, or homosexuality. Instructional materials could not only present marriage as between a husband and wife, but must also teach about two wives who are married lesbians. To avoid "reflecting adversely," sex education assemblies would have to include information on hormone injections and sex- change operations.

SB 1437's strange definitions of "gender" and "sexual orientation" are taken directly from California Penal Code, Section 422.56, which defines gender as including a "person's gender identity and gender related appearance and behavior whether or not stereotypically associated with the person's assigned sex at birth," and which defines sexual orientation as including "bisexuality." A legal analysis is posted at www.savecalifornia.com.

On April 4, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted 3-1 to pass SB 1437. Asking no questions of witnesses and voting lock-step in favor of the bill were Democrats Joe Dunn, Martha Escutia, and Sheila Kuehl, the bill's author. Voting "no" was the Republican leader, Dick Ackerman.

"Arnold Schwarzenegger must realize that values voters, whether they are Republican, independent, or Democrat, really hate the notion of schoolchildren being taught that sex-change operations are good and natural and maybe even for them," said Thomasson. "SB 1437 leads young children astray and emotionally molests them. This sexual indoctrination bill takes our schools backward, not forward."

CAMPAIGN FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES (CCF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, nonpartisan educational organization representing children and families in California and America.
