Christian Coalition Urges Senators to Finally Vote on 'Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act' Which Passed in House by 389-38
Christian Coalition Will Score Vote to End Democrat Filibuster on Bill in 2006 Congressional Scorecard

WASHINGTON, April 24 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christian Coalition of America is urging all people of faith to call both their Senators on Call-in Tuesday (April 25th) to demand final passage of Congressman Fred Upton's "Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act" (H.R. 310) which passed overwhelmingly in the United States House of Representatives over one year ago. The urgency of this action was made clear earlier this month when NBC, ABC, CBS and the Fox Entertainment Network filed a court challenge to be able to use the "F-word" and the "S-word" on television taking the networks further into the vast sewer of prime-time television.

Roberta Combs, President of Christian Coalition of America said, "Congress needs to give the FCC even greater weapons to go against out-of-control broadcasters such as ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox Entertainment Network. I urge the Senate leadership to finally bring to the Senate floor for a vote, the "Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act" which passed overwhelmingly in the U.S. House of Representatives by a margin of 389-38 last April. There is no excuse for a delay in the Senate floor vote now that Senate hearings have been completed."

The "Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act" (H.R. 310) will increase fines leveled by the Federal Communication Commission against the broadcasting networks from the current level of $32,500 per violation to $500,000 per violation and the fines will also be leveled against individual entertainers. Repeated violations by the networks will eventually lead to license revocation. The Chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, Ted Stevens, (R-AK), is wrong in stating that NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox can clean up the airwaves themselves. Their lawsuits last week to use even more vile language than they have been using proves they are not trustworthy. Majority Leader Bill Frist, (R-TN), must bring H.R. 310 to the Senate floor for a vote immediately.

Here is the Action Item that needs to be accomplished immediately:
