'Injuries Will Not Stop The Walk To Reclaim America' McKinneys Say

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas, April 25 /Christian Newswire/ -- A series of accidents on Friday morning, April 21, left cross country walker, Rick McKinney, with second degree burns, a dislocated finger, injured knee, and a twisted ankle. "It all started with a spilled cup of coffee," said McKinney. "I spilled the whole cup all over my lap. I jumped up and promptly fell down causing all of the other injuries. I spent several hours in the Emergency Room in Russellville and then was transferred to the Burn Center in Little Rock. It was quite a day to say the least."

Rick and Jane McKinney, who started their walk on January 1st in Santa Monica, CA have walked just over 1700 miles on their way to Washington DC. The Walk To Reclaim America has logged hundreds of hours of prayer walking for the country and its people. They have also used their encounters to encourage Christians and churches to stand up and share their faith and make a difference in their own communities. However, the McKinneys agree that their favorite part of the walk has been sharing their faith with people as they walk through communities and the countryside.

"We’ve been taking advantage of every circumstance to share. Just like the other day in the Emergency Room," said Mrs. McKinney. Rick started sharing from the moment he arrived. He witnessed to the nurses, the doctors, x-ray technicians, and even the other patients. One of the things God has taught us is that every single circumstance, no matter how far outside our original plan, can be used as an opportunity to share the gospel."

"Of course Rick’s first concern was the walk," said Jane McKinney. "We’ve been married nearly 32 years and I’ve known him long enough to know that his main concern was going to be how soon he could walk. We decided that God had a plan and a timetable and that our hearts’ desire was to live according to it."

"This is only a temporary delay according to our schedule not His. This came as no surprise to Him. We began walking again today with a very short day according to Doctor’s orders. We’ll make up the time and arrive in Washington DC on July 4th ," says Mr. McKinney. "God confirmed His hand in this whole incident by allowing us to lead a man to the Lord during our first mile today in Morrilton, AR."
