Christian Social Networking Website Launched

PAWLEYS ISLAND, South Carolina, April 26 /Christian Newswire/ -- New Christian website, Oaktree.org, seeks to deliver a faith based alternative in the emerging online social networking phenomenon. The seaside town of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, might be the last place you would look for the next big trend on the internet. Without argument, anyone in the technology industry will tell you that this new trend is social networking. This term refers to any site where users create the content of the website through their personal bio pages, blog entries, online photo albums and forum posts. Popular sites in this sector include Myspace.com and Facebook.com.

Brady Stump, founder of Oaktree.org, saw a glaring omission in this emerging new trend. “I was searching for an online community where I could grow my faith by interacting with other Christians in a social networking kind of way. Unfortunately there was nothing out there for Christians that completely filled this gap, so a few of us in town simply created one for ourselves!”

Stump and the Oaktree.org staff didn’t want to simply create a carbon copy of what was already out there in the social networking sphere. Their goal was to create a user experience that was uniquely Christian, yet completely social.

“To create a Christian social network, you have to understand the faith itself. We believe in the power of prayer, so we have something called a Hope Exchange. We believe in sharing our faith, so we created a 20 Questions feature where members can share their unique life experiences with others. Our goal was not just to create a social network, but to make a positive difference in the lives of all who come into contact with Oaktree.org.”

The social networking features of Oaktree.org do not stop at the prayer exchange and profile questions. Additional features include: expanded personal profiles, Impact Projects, Oaktree Villager Email, ability to send E-Cards, the exchange of thank you notes, personal profile images, My Thoughts / Your Thoughts blog feature, multiple forums, live chat features, ability to share your favorite links and a buddy list.

Ultimately, Oaktree.org seeks to bring Christians together that have a passion for God, life, community and technology. The site is also geared for those that are seeking direction in their life and want to learn more about the Christian faith. Oaktree.org strives to be a gathering place for the purpose driven, the innovators, the difference makers and the ones that want to leave their stamp on the world. “We pray that our new site will foster creativity and innovation within the Christian movement and will break down previous barriers of communication worldwide,” Stump commented.

With the many social aspects of Oaktree.org, Stump should have no trouble attracting Christians to put their roots down on his growing site.

Oaktree.org is an online Christian community built on hope, innovation & purpose.
