California Women Equip Believers to Share Their Faith Using 'The Da Vinci Code'

CASTRO VALLEY, Calif., May 9 /Christian Newswire/ -- Fear Not Da Vinci, a new book by Susy Flory and Gini Monroe, encourages believers to shed their fears and step forward to answer the questions raised in The Da Vinci Code. "There is a tremendous curiosity about The Da Vinci Code’s claims," said Flory. "People want to know who Jesus is and if the Bible can be trusted. Instead of boycotting the book and the movie, let’s be ready with answers."

The Da Vinci Code is a monster bestseller, with over forty million copies in print around the world, inspiring a major movie due out May 19, 2006, starring Tom Hanks and directed by Ron Howard.

A number of Christian books have been produced which deconstruct and debunk Dan Brown’s claims. However, Fear Not Da Vinci takes a big step forward using a friendly, encouraging tone as it urges Christians to use the opportunity for culturally relevant evangelism. Fear Not Da Vinci teaches practical ways to discuss lifesaving spiritual truths with most anyone at any time.

Fear Not Da Vinci encourages and equips believers to shed their fear and "find common ground" with unbelievers. It also deals with the issue of whether Christians should read this heretical book, along with surveying the book’s cultural impact. The book uses anecdotes to introduce readers to several different Da Vinci Code scenarios they might encounter, including a five minute discussion on the subway, a dinner party conversation, a book club meeting, and an art lesson for children. Fear Not Da Vinci provides answers to the questions believers are most likely to encounter, including the most popular question: Was Jesus married?

Fear Not Da Vinci (Living Ink/AMG) was written by Susy Flory and Gini Monroe, with W. Ward Gasque, PhD. Between them, Flory and Monroe have backgrounds in secondary education, art, evangelism, missions and speaking, along with journalism and public relations. An integral part of the Fear Not Da Vinci writing team is W. Ward Gasque, PhD, a noted New Testament scholar, professor, author, and frequent academic lecturer on The Da Vinci Code.
