35th Annual Heartbeat International Conference in Orlando Looks at Past, Present, Future of Pregnancy Resource Centers

COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 11 /Christian Newswire/ -- Hundreds of pro-life leaders renewing their communities for life gather at the 35th Annual Heartbeat International Conference in Orlando, FL, May 17-20, 2006.

Countries represented include Australia, Belize, Bulgaria, Canada, Congo, Denmark, Ghana, Mexico, Namibia, the Netherlands, Romania, Scotland, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Zambia, and the U.S. Heartbeat International is providing scholarships to 18 international guests.

Sister Paula Vandegaer, one of Heartbeat’s founders, will share details from Heartbeat’s history. Carol Everett, former abortion provider turned pro-life advocate, will share the inner workings of an abortion facility from her past experience.

Roland Warren, President of the National Fatherhood Initiative, will provide resources to help men today become better dads. Peggy Hartshorn, Ph.D., President of Heartbeat International will share her work with today’s pregnancy centers.

Rev. John Ensor, Executive Director of Heartbeat International's Urban Initiative will present on the future of abortion and overcoming racism in the U.S. Mary Suarez Hamm, Executive Director of Centro Tepeyac, Heartbeat Board Member, will address the importance of connecting with the Hispanic Community to serve tomorrow’s family.

“Heartbeat’s mission is to save and change as many lives as possible, around the world, by connecting people in need to an effective network of pregnancy centers and medical clinics that renew their communities for life,” said Heartbeat President Hartshorn, who will address over 600 pregnancy center directors, board members, staff, volunteers, and others. “Our goal is to provide a pro-life network that helps communities welcome every new life, according to God’s plan, so abortion becomes unthinkable for future generations.”

Heartbeat International, founded in 1971, was the first pregnancy support association in the U.S. to educate women about the risks of abortion and help provide alternatives. It is a Christian association of 976 pregnancy resource centers, maternity homes, non-profit adoption agencies, and life-affirming medical clinics in 48 states and 35 countries.
