Walk To Reclaim America Crosses The 2000 Mile Benchmark NASHVILLE, Tenn., May 15 /Christian Newswire/ -- Rick and Jane McKinney have crossed the 2000 mile benchmark on their walk across America putting them just 800 miles from their final destination. The walk which began on January 1st in Santa Monica, CA has taken them through seven states. Walking through Tennessee and Virginia are all that stands between them and their final destination of Washington DC. They plan to arrive there on July 4th, 2006. “We have been through a little bit of everything you can imagine,” says Jane McKinney. “We’ve walked through deserts, over mountains, through barbed wired fences, on Interstate highways (with permission), and on railroad tracks. We’ve endured blisters, leg cramps, injuries, trips to the emergency room, sunburn, and lots of other hardships. But the truth is we’d do it all over again in a heartbeat. The blessings of sharing Christ with hundreds of people, encouraging Christians in their walk with the Lord, and being able to materially bless those in need has far outweighed the hardships.” “Every benchmark has been important,” says Rick McKinney. “The first 500 miles was really important. So was 1000 miles. I think the half way point in Oklahoma City was the emotional turning point for us. That achievement helped us know that with the Lord’s help we could complete this task. Now, with 2000 miles under our belt, we feel like Washington DC is right around the corner.” The McKinneys are walking across America to draw attention to what they believe is a need to reclaim the foundational truths held by our Founding Fathers. “Our forebears were people of deep and abiding faith.
