Congress Won't Pass Marriage Protection, California's Only Hope is
VoteYesMarriage.com
SACRAMENTO, June 7 /Christian Newswire/ -- It’s up to Californians to protect the special institution of marriage in their state constitution, now that a federal marriage amendment has stalled for the second time in three years. “Because Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer oppose protecting marriage for a man and a woman, the federal marriage amendment has failed,” said former Assemblyman Larry Bowler, a leader of the statewide VoteYesMarriage.com coalition. “But because of California’s overwhelming support for preserving marriage for a man and a woman, the VoteYesMarriage.com initiative will succeed.” The VoteYesMarriage.com campaign is raising funds and awareness as it aims for the 2008 ballot to override the judges and politicians who are attacking marriage. As a California state constitutional amendment, the VoteYesMarriage.com initiative would permanently protect marriage for a man and a woman, like the people of California intended when they voted for Proposition 22 in 2000. California is being set up to become the second state to legalize homosexual “marriages” through activist judges. On July 10, the California Court of Appeal in San Francisco will hear oral arguments in the City of San Francisco’s lawsuit to invent “same-sex marriages.” Last year, San Francisco Judge Richard Kramer issued a shocking decision that limiting marriage to a man and woman was “unconstitutional” and without “rational basis.” The case will eventually go to the California Supreme Court, with a decision expected in 2007 or 2008. “The only way to stop judges from destroying marriage to support and pass the VoteYesMarriage.com California marriage amendment,” said pro-family leader Randy Thomasson, one of the authors of The Voters’ Right to Protect Marriage Initiative sponsored by VoteYesMarriage.com. “Because Congress won’t pass marriage protection, California’s only hope is the VoteYesMarriage.com effort.” “California’s state constitution will be amended on marriage,” predicted Bowler. “The only question is whether the decision makers will be voters like you and me, or black-robed judges in San Francisco. People don’t want California to become another Massachusetts, where the judges hijacked and killed the uniqueness of marriage. The majority of Californians will support the VoteYesMarriage.com amendment in a jiffy.” “Marriage is a natural and beautiful institution between a man and a woman,” said Thomasson. “And having a father and a mother is obviously in the best interest of children. It’s wrong for judges and politicians to destroy marriage which is the very foundation of society. We invite everyone who believes that marriage is special to visit VoteYesMarriage.com to help protect marriage rights for one man and one woman in the California State Constitution.” VoteYesMarriage.com (ID #1276880) is a 501(c) (4) nonprofit, nonpartisan organization sponsoring the Voters' Right to Protect Marriage Initiative.
