Christian Conservatives to Host Controversial Scholar at Capitol Hill Forum WASHINGTON, June 7 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Reese Roundtable on Capitol Hill will host Dr. James Hutson of the Library of Congress for its inaugural luncheon and roundtable discussion, Tuesday, June 13, 2006, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM, in the US House Rayburn Building, room E-340. The Reese Roundtable on Capitol Hill is a new forum led by Christian conservatives. It is dedicated to advancing the principles that guided the American founders in the framing of the Constitution and the formation of government. For its inaugural luncheon, the Roundtable will host Dr. James Hutson, chief of manuscripts for the Library of Congress. Dr. Hutson will speak about his new book, The Founders on Religion (Princeton University Press). He will also address his highly controversial scholarship on Thomas Jefferson's 1802 letter to the Danbury Association of Baptists from which the US Supreme Court borrowed the phrase "wall of separation between church and state." In attendance will be members of Congress and leaders of conservative Christian organizations. The event, sponsored by Rep. Donald Manzullo (R- IL), will also honor Mr. Bernard P. (Bernie) Reese of Rockford, IL, attorney of 51 years, Christian conservative activist and philanthropist.
