Faith Leader Responds to Film Rated 'PG' For Being Too Religious WASHINGTON, June 9 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Associated Press is reporting that "[a] church-produced film about a school whose losing football team is turned around after the coach turns to God has been slapped with a 'PG' rating -- for being too religious." See: Upcoming Film Gets 'PG' Rating For Being Religious . Rev. Rob Schenck (pronounced SHANK), president of the National Clergy Council in Washington, is available for comment on his following remarks: "This is what we have feared and warned about for years. There are forces in our culture using the arts and entertainment to marginalize people of faith and even vilify them. Abusing the film rating system is just the newest weapon in the anti-religion arsenal. "To say that children can't see a film because of its religious content is more serious in its symbolism than it is in reality. No matter how they cut it, it says 'religion can be harmful to young children.' Nothing is farther from the truth. Research shows that children engaged in regular religious activity, particularly church activities, do far better in every way than children who are not. "This is an outrage, an insult to all people who take their faith seriously, and to religious leaders and institutions. This cannot be allowed to go unchallenged." -- Rev. Rob Schenck, president of the National Clergy Council
