R-CALF:
Deadline Nears for Scholarship Applications Billings, Mont. – R-CALF USA’s charitable foundation, the “United Stockgrowers of America Foundation for Research, Education and Endowment” (USA FREE) will accept applications for the first round of Leo and Sam McDonnell Scholarship awards until July 1. Four $2,500 scholarships will be presented during the organization’s annual convention, in Denver, Jan. 18-20, 2007. Applications can be printed from the “USA FREE” link on the R-CALF USA website: www.r-calfusa.com . Applications must be postmarked no later than July 1, must be complete, and must include the required supporting materials. Applications are being accepted from graduating high school seniors or students currently attending an eligible post-secondary institution. The applicant, or an immediate family member, must be an R-CALF USA member in good standing. Finalists must be available for a personal interview with the selection committee, either on-site or by telephone conference call. The Leo and Sam McDonnell Scholarship Fund was introduced during the 2006 R-CALF USA convention as a tribute to their legendary leadership of the organization. Leo McDonnell is a co-founder of R-CALF USA, as well as the organization’s past president, and also served two terms as R-CALF USA Region I Director.
