Pro-Life Groups Petition U.S. Senate Democrats to let the Child Protection Custody Act Proceed

ALTON, Illinois, August 1 /Christian Newswire/ -- On July 25th the U.S. Senate voted to pass the Child Protection Custody Act (S. 403). The key point of this bill was to prohibit transporting minors across state lines for abortions in violation of parents' rights and to circumvent local Parental Notification laws which are currently active in 29 states.

Despite the 65-34 vote in the U.S. Senate, fourteen Democratic senators voted to pass the bill, but Senator Dick Durbin immediately moved to rally the Democratic Caucus to kill the bill.

In response to this, the Illinois Federation for Right to Life is announcing its launch of an urgent nation wide online petition drive demanding that U.S. Senate Democrats, led by Senators Harry Reid (NV) and Dick Durbin (IL), remove the procedural roadblock they have erected to try to stop passage of the Child Protection Custody Act (S. 403).

This is an urgent matter, the Congressional Pro - life Caucus reported that: "If we hope to see this important legislation signed into law this year, the Senate must act this week to send the bill to conference.” The time to act is now! Please sign this petition by Thursday, August 3rd to save this bill. Please visit: http://www.ifrl.org/CCPA

Parental notification and parental consent laws are supported by overwhelming majorities of the American public, the U.S. Senate Democrats are plainly out of touch with their constituents.

Let the U.S. Senate Democrats know that they represent us, not the pro-abort lobby.

The IFRL is the largest grassroots pro-life organization in Illinois. A non-profit organization, that serves as the state coordinating body for local pro- life chapters representing thousands of Illinois citizens working to restore respect for all human life in our society.
