Smear Campaign Sign of Desperation Today, opponents of Referred Law 6 made a desperate attempt to scandalize legal contributions to the VoteYesForLife.com campaign. The negative attack is not legitimate. South Dakota election law deems corporate contributions to ballot question committees legal. "This is a desperate political move by a campaign that knows it is losing," says Leslee Unruh, VoteYesForLife.com Campaign Manager. "We suggest that the opposition review South Dakota election law before making unjustified allegations." "The campaign will not return legal contributions to stop abortion on demand," Unruh states. The corporate contributions that the opponent questions were not kept secret. All contributions to VoteYesForLife.com, over $100, were fully and timely disclosed. Unruh states: "These allegations against us are just an attempt to smear us in the final days of this election. We call on South Dakotans to reject this type of negative politics and vote yes for life on 6. It's the right thing to do. The days of abortion on demand are numbered." VoteYesForLife.com directs the public to the 1978 South Dakota Attorney General's Opinion. The opinion deems any corporate contribution to a ballot question committee legal. VoteYesForLife.com campaigns on behalf of Referred Law 6. The campaign organized in 2006 to support HB 1215, the Women's Health and Human Life Protection Act. 1978 South Dakota Attorney General's Opinion
