This article from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says global warming started 5,000 years ago (when, incidentally, there were no SUVs or coal-fired power plants, and no evil American or Western civilization to make them).
Global warming didn't start with the industrial revolution, but began 5,000 to 8,000 years ago with large-scale agriculture in Asia and extensive deforestation in Europe, according to new research by University of Wisconsin-Madison scientists.
Using powerful supercomputers and advanced climate models, the researchers concluded that methane and carbon dioxide - the building blocks of global warming - began rising with the introduction of rice cultivation and large-scale tree removal.
So don't worry about it! Drive your Hummer or Expedition with pride!
That, or advocate we kill off 90% or more of the human race so we can allow our planet-goddess to go back to the au naturale. Maybe we can get the environmentalist wackos to jump to the head of the line to show their love for the goddess. Ya think?
There is a silver lining, though. The article says this warming probably averted another ice age. I'm sure Floridians would love the 4 degree weather I have outside my house right now.
On a semi-related topic, Daily Tech reports Princeton physicist Dr. Will Happer called fears over global warming "mistaken".
"I have spent a long research career studying physics that is closely related to the greenhouse effect", said Happer. "Fears about man-made global warming are unwarranted and are not based on good science."
Well, there goes that consensus thing! So much for "settled science."
Happer's latest remarks were made yesterday, as he asked to be included in a Senate Environment and Public Works report of scientists disputing global warming alarmism. Happer joins 650 other scientists on the list, many of whom have been interviewed previously by DailyTech.
"Computer models used to generate frightening scenarios from increasing levels of carbon dioxide have scant credibility," Happer concluded.
Anthropogenic global warming makes for thrilling science fiction and good fodder for socialist to peddle more government authoritarianism, but doesn't make for good science. It's based on a grain of science and a bucket of conjecture.

Ellis,
Let's assume for discussion purposes that you are a 25 yr career journalist, and suddenly your local mechanic comes up and tells you don't know a thing about what your doing, that you don't even know how to compose a complete sentence. Your reaction would likely be, "Who are you, an auto mechanic, to tell me that I don't know my profession?"
So now I ask, "Who the hell are you to say that literally thousands of scientists from climate to geology to hyrdologists to biologists to oceanographers with 30-40 yr careers studying climate change have got it all wrong?" You may be the idiot here.
tdwagner, the thing about the fantasy of anthropogenic global warming is that it so obviously fails even the smell test, you don't need a PhD in a scientific field to realize it's a load of bunk.
But if fancy degrees impress you, there are thousands of scientists who also say it's a load of bunk. They just don't get the press that "scientists" like Al Gore get because, unlike Gore, their goals and ideology isn't compatible with the "mainstream" press.
Smell test by whom? You? If your logic is so sound, the next time your child is sick with a fever, take them to carpenter. Even a 5th grade science experiment shows that increasing concentrations of CO2 traps heat. If your idea of “qualified scientist” is synonymous with James Inhofe’s claims, then nothing more needs to be said. And the earth is flat and smoking is not harmful, as well. Oh, and there’s that same old, same old “Al Gore” demon. Yawn………
Or is an increase in heat (say, from that huge star in the middle of our solar system, for instance?) resulting in an increase of CO2? The evidence actually shows that, not the other way around.
But allusions that CO2 buildup increases heat makes for better science fiction, doesn't it? And better fodder to advance authoritarian socialism.
And when you consider Mars, Jupiter and other planets are showing signs of warming (where there are no SUVs, power plants, or humans for that matter), the obvious conclusion that any warming is coming from solar activity.
See, anthropogenic global warming doesn't even pass the smell test. The evidence indicates the exact opposite of what the peddlers of fantasy want you to believe.
Don't blindly follow people because they have letters after their names and act like pompous asses. Think for yourself!
