Complaint Filed with FCC Over Deceptive Pro-Abortion Ads

A post earlier today by Pastor Steve at Voices Carry outlines several of the salient points of the complaint file with the FCC today over the demonstrably false pro-abortion ads being aired by the South Dakota Campaign for UnHealthy Families.

VoteYesForLife.com, the organization promoting Initiated Measure 11 to end most abortions in South Dakota, announced earlier today that they were taking legal action over these deceptive ads.

The pro-abortion ads attempt to deceive voters into opposing Initiated Measure 11--specifically designed to end abortion as birth control in South Dakota--by claiming a number of medical conditions which could affect the mother could not be treated. Those conditions included diabetes, renal failure, retinopathy, cervical cancer, severe pulmonary hypertension, and multiple sclerosis.

Section 4 of Initiated Measure 11 clearly states

No person may be prosecuted under section 2 of this Act if a licensed physician has made a judgment that an abortion is necessary because there is a serious risk of a substantial and irreversible impairment of the functioning of a major bodily organ or system of the pregnant woman should the pregnancy be continued and which risk could be prevented through an abortion, unless in reaching that judgment the physician knowingly disregards accepted standards of medical practice.

Ironically, many of the same liberals who are promoting the idea of "no government interference" to fight IM 11 are the same liberals who have no problem with government interference which redistributes personal wealth, dictates what property owners can do with their own property, and restricts personal choices that have no moral consequences.

In perhaps the ultimate twist of irony, this campaign has also seen pro-abortionists using ads which ostensibly defend human life in the womb in an effort to maintain the right to end human life in the womb for any reason whatsoever, including the 84.6% of abortions performed in South Dakota because "The mother did not desire to have the child."

It seems the standard for the pro-abortion campaign is "Whatever argument works; facts, logic and consistency optional."
